The Null Hypothesis: A Different Kind of Show

From our humble beginnings to the present day, learn about our journey to bring this show to life.

Since 2018, I have been on a journey to build this show. What started out as an informal thing turned into a mission. I wasn’t thinking about the need to tell diverse stories. I had an idea in my head that I wanted to make a reality.

Somehow, I got people who wanted to work with me on this show. Little by little, it became clear to me that the characters I was creating were needed in the marketplace and there were plenty of actors dying to portray them.

When you are a person of color or LGBTQ+ or Indigenous or Disabled, the issue of diversity is not the fad of the moment, it’s something you have to grapple with every day of your life. I understand the importance of these kinds of stories being told and I am committed to creating them.

Taking up this mission is not without sacrifice. Like the characters I write about, I worry will I be happy when I achieve all that I set out to do. If I can help tell stories that may have otherwise not been told, if I can introduce the world to actors that the world may have otherwise not met, if I can change hearts and minds and remind people of their better angels, then all that I endure to make that happen will be worth it.

This is a first in a series of blogs that I will do about The Null Hypothesis. I hope you will become curious about our show and join us on this journey. Together, we can make this a reality.
